Wayne Dayton says: Beautiful pictures of the property, captures the essence of relaxation. Kara Hamilton and beach destinations seem to go hand-in-hand...I remember when she was part of the Travel World Radio Show's live show from the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki in October/1998. as a follow up to the question, how do you build a great lifestyle portfolio...i referenced books that i take with me out on a shoot.  i was using an iphoto book, but changed over to my new inkjet book.  its great because i can keep it up to date with the best/newest stuff and can custom create books for the type of person or groups i might approach.

all in all it has been really enjoyable just to be able to print and share.  thanks to all for adding their comments and tips on inkjet printing.   look for a post on how to use them for promos...i am not sure yet, but working on it!

both shots below are ideal senarios on lifestyle stuff that i stumble upon...or in the case of the fly fisherman, hunt down and shoot...long story.

so with a new waterhousing comes new lenes.  just got the canon 28mm f1.8.  got it cause i needed those wide shots underwater and this was the right price for about $450.  it had some decent reviews and so now i own it.  i am pretty happy with it so far.  here are a few from a session with mike.

Wesley Brown says: That's what I primarily use :) I'm eyeing the 50mm 1.4, though. (10.01.08 @ 06:11 PM)
Misty Dawn says: I love the last two, but especially the 2nd to last one! Awesome, man! (07.29.08 @ 07:06 AM)

Katie Beverley says: Dang! If Jay Reilly had a worshop I would SO go! I want to see some underwater shots...! :) (07.25.08 @ 06:04 PM)
jay says: chelo! your funny...no workshop planned...yet, but maybe working on it! (07.25.08 @ 05:41 PM)
chelo says: Cool! If you said you took these shots with a cardboard box strapped together with bubble gum I would believe you- cause your just that good! MacGuyver status!! Jay, you got a workshop coming up or what? (07.25.08 @ 04:25 PM)
jay reilly says: if you want to comment, please use the "comment anonymously" as the other option does not seem to be working right now, thanks! i have never shot the 35mm 1.4. i would like focal lenght more for what i am doing, but it does not fit in my housing with out buying a new port ;-( but i think the 28 and 35 are far enough it would justify having both for different characteristics. (07.25.08 @ 03:47 PM)
Sherman says: How do you think it compares against the 35 1.4L? Might be a silly question but that 35 is about $700 more. (07.25.08 @ 03:10 PM)
Krystal Mann says: Great shots! Gotta love that lens.....oh, and the subject is pretty nice to look at too. ;) (07.25.08 @ 01:57 PM)

i have had people ask me where i find my places to shoot... I actually do very little location scouting, unless it is a very art directed session with location intention or there is a budget and producer that helps secure and plot the locations.  for the most part i have an idea and scout when shooting and just find it!

so here is alexia's session in la jolla.  love the field...the second i saw, i was excited.

its just nice when it all works.  ever get that feeling?  just wanted to say thanks to two companies that really have it together.  customer service has been great and i look forward to many more orders with these guys.  so i have been making new printed portfolios and it is kind of a expensive pain in the but to select the images, edit the images, print and make all of these portfolios.  but it is almost done!

WHCC for printing. these guys are just great, i can FTP and what almost seems like 2 days it comes via UPS looking perfect.

PINA ZANGARO for printed portfolios.  i had these great plans to custom make books.  when it came down to what i wanted to make, they beat me to it.

props.jpgjust putting a bunch together for a rep.  get it in circulation!
