or a hand model, although i have had to on a many low budget product shoots...BUT LETS PLAY A GAME!
I have a shoot today on this dreary rainy day, and am feeling like shooting some film. Just want to compare some qualities of the old slide film i used to shoot pretty often with my digital processing today. So if all goes well, i will shoot a few rolls of film and scan it and maybe we can see what we like as a group. Come play along or laugh at the stupidity and think, heck, film is dead! Either way, in an effort to create something a bit different, here we go...
film v digital! check back next week. oh, you can start your wagering among yourself in the comments. almost forgot how to load this stuff!!

oh I love film, the look, the smell, the feel, i think its the sexiest thing around (after the sound that the old hasselblad makes when winding on a shot.) Have fun with it.

What you need is some medium format CF cards...
To be honest I think the big difference that you see when you shoot film and wow it's been a long time since I did, I ought to pick up a 4x5" some time, comes from the bigger film giving a much shallower DoF than a APS-C/35mm sized sensor...
Have fun!!

Always up for a challenge---considering I have a roll of film languishing in my not-that-old canon rebel body... good opportunity to finally shoot it up! I should do some shots of the same things, using the film & digital cameras w/same lenses... hoping the film isn't that old... Ok, I'm in! (hope I can remember how to unload it!)

I am still blown, away looking back at photos, how digital still has to bow to film to a certain degree. I sometimes miss the romance of film..the anticipation. BUT, I will forever be grateful for digital.

One thing I don't miss is driving to the camera store (or paying my assistant) to pick up the stuff. Then you would either run out at the shoot or have rolls left over that you ended up never using.

I JUST had a shoot last weekend and shot some film for the first time in 2 years! It was really nice to hold some contact sheets in my hand, for a change. And I DEFINITELY still see a difference in quality between film and digital. Good luck with the shoot!
