Came across some of my work from one hope this past week. Always cool to see the images in a finished piece. This was a fun shoot. Lots of interesting perspective on the business of wine. One cool thing about being a photographer, each project is always a bit different than the previous! Keep its interesting. You can find out all about one hope at www.onehopewines.com

Here are some quick ones of the Nelm kids getting very wet and sandy! If you want a session like this, email me! jay@jayreilly.com
I had the pleasure of co-hosting an event with my good friend Lisa Kennedy at Landmark Events. The event was at the very cool Ballpark Loft downtown San Diego. Some of the others involved in the event were One Hope Wines, artist, Mike Newton, 410 Degrees, SoCal Ice, Plush Lounge, Blush Botanicals, Soar Sushi and Xceptional Music.

Kids have such great facial expressions, if you can capture them (Like you can) then you definitely can do anything.

Children just can’t keep still! It’s nice to capture that and they’re expression, it’s mostly so innocent!

a few out-takes from the san diego mag shoot.
tips for shooting from a helicopter:
1. don’t eat a big lunch
2. minimize composing images though the viewfinder
3. have a shot list and plan of attack for a flight path
4. dress warm
5. buckle in
6. as you climb, have read the altimeter to you can give the pilot altitude direction when your shooting – most of my shots were 100-500 feet, and now i know just about exactly where to be to communicate it
have fun!
if anyone wants to go on a helicopter shoot, we can share the cost;-)

Nice images and looks like great fun. Approx. how much is splitting the costs?
-
It does look really fun… I’m also interested in the cost. Also, what was the problem with composing through the viewfinder… too sporadic?
-
wow that is such a great perspective! Great captures.
-
These are cool, but I feel dizzy!

Dear Jay,
You are such an inspiration to me. I love your work and your energy. I saw this post and immediately decided to take a helicopter ride over the NYC area. I live in Brooklyn and I wish you lived here so that we could split the cost of the ride. I have been in a helicopter before and I took a flight over the Colorado River which was awesome. That was when I was fresh out of college and I used a disposable camera to capture the shots. I can’t wait to take my baby (d700) up there. Wish me well. Thanks for the inspiration. I am hoping to make this happen very soon.

Awesome Jay!
